The “Mental Health Support in the Workplace & Community” non accredited course provides participants with the key skills and understanding needed to assist individuals facing mental health challenges. It’s especially beneficial for those working in healthcare, education, community services, or anyone wanting to build a more supportive culture within their workplace or community.
The course explores psychosocial hazards—such as stress, bullying, and high workload—that can negatively impact mental health. Participants will learn how to recognise these risks and better understand their effects on both individuals and teams.
In addition, practical strategies for reducing these risks will be covered, helping participants to foster safer, more mentally healthy environments. By addressing these crucial elements, the course offers a well-rounded and proactive approach to mental health support in everyday settings.

Course Structure:
This course is delivered in two parts:
- Support Strategies – Practical approaches to working with and supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
- Crisis Response – Focused training on how to respond effectively in mental health emergencies.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise and respond appropriately to mental health crises.
- Understand the complexities of mental health and how it affects individuals and communities.
- Use effective communication techniques to support those facing mental health challenges.
- Develop and apply strategies that promote mental well-being in both workplace and community environments.
- Identify and manage psychosocial risks such as stress, workload, and bullying.
- Understand and implement the C.A.R.E.S. Action Plan for practical support.
Face-to-Face Practical Session Includes:

- A review of key topics covered in the online learning module.
- Interactive role plays to practise empowering communication techniques.
- Creation of a basic, personalised action plan that includes referral pathways and next steps.
- Application of skills in three real-world scenarios to build confidence and capability.
Course Delivery
This course is currently being delivered in a blended format, combining online theory with an interactive practical session.
- Pre-Course Theory: Up to 5 hours of self-paced online learning
- Face-to-Face Workshop: Up to 4 hours (virtual option available)

Private group bookings (for workplaces, sporting clubs, community groups, etc.) can be arranged onsite at your facility or delivered virtually.
